Our herd are Berkshire Hogs, which is a Heritage Breed from Berkshire England that was introduced into the US in the 1800s. Our pork will woodland raised pork. Raising hogs in a woodland setting is a regenerative farming practice that aids in forest regeneration, helps controls invasive weeds and aerates the soil through rooting. Raising hogs in the woods, puts them in their natural habit, where they can forage for nuts, roots and vegetation. Not only does this diet result in the hogs to having higher levels of Vitamin E & D but also healthier fats. Foraging on acorns and hickory nuts, which our property has, adds a sweet and nutty complex flavor to the meat.
